| Long Pond, PA - The Flashpoint Series Season 2 opened at Pocono with clear 80* temperature. Jeff Russell took the pole with an awesome 53.832 lap. Jeff Russell, Russ Smith, Tom O'Hara, Ken Doeg, Ken Skjei, and Rick Geddes all led a number of laps through the race. Unfortunately Russ Smith experienced a connection problem that put him a number of laps down and took him out of contention. David Johnson and Charles Hooper stayed out under yellow to each lead a lap. Rick Geddes had moved to the top 3 or 4 early but a speeding penalty on pit road on lap 18 moved him to the back of the field. The race got very interesting when yellow came out with about 25 laps to go. Rick Geddes and Tom O'Hara took 2 tires and the rest of the field took 4 putting Rick and Tom into first and second positions followed by Ken Skjei and Ken Doeg, both recent promotions to the Pro Division. Another caution came out with 20 to go. The leaders all stayed out and with the race going green with 17 to go but then another yellow the sixth and final caution. The race restarted for the final time with eleven laps to go. A few laps in Tom passed Rick for the lead. O'Hara brushed the wall coming out of turn one with seven or eight to go and Geddes passed him back for the lead followed by Skjei, Doeg, Worrick and Chrisman. Skjei got under Geddes in turn three taking the lead on the front straight but in turn one Geddes passed Skjei for the lead again. Doeg got under Skjei and after nearly a lap finally completed the pass for second. Skjei brushed the wall lightly but Worrick took the opportunity to get under Skjei going for third. They touched in the tunnel turn and Skjei went up into the wall and dropped back to ninth place. On the next to last lap Geddes pushed up in the tunnel turn allowing Doeg to get a run underneath him heading to turn three and took the lead. Worrick tried to followed Doeg but had to wait until the last lap in turn two to pass Geddes the same way Doeg did. Chrisman followed Worrick to take third from Geddes. The first to eighth place cars were only separated by 1.59 seconds at the finish. Quite a race to open Season 2. Ken Doeg won with Troy Worrick second, Mick Chrisman third, Rick Geddes fourth and the pole sitter, Jeff Russell, rounding out the top five. After the race Ken Doeg said "The four tire stop was probably what helped me hang on for the win. Everyone raced me very clean making for an excellent race up front. Great race."
