Author: MikeVa
Subject: Rfactor rankings
Posted: 14 Apr 2012 at 7:47pm

The points are based from what is in the series .rfm file..so we had to go a different route. What we are doing is taking the number of drivers in a race, and using the total number for the points the winner gets. 10 drivers in a race, winner gets 10 points, and down to 1 point for last place finish..35 drivers in a race, winner gets 35 down to last place getting 1 point. Billy did say he would work on the pages we need this weekend, and should have something for us by the middle of next week. Once we get the pages to show all the info, I will e-mail all the rfactor based admins, letting them know exactly when we will roll this out live. This way every driver will start out equal.

The more races you run, and the more drivers you have in your races will earn top finishing drivers more points. There is a certain number of drivers that must be in the race before it will score..so if just 2 drivers enter races to build up skill points, don't waste your time.

Also, all the servers we use for this, will NOT be allowed to have AI cars enabled on their servers. AI cars just cause issues in the files that are created on the server itself. Server Admins that insist on being able to run AI cars on their server will simply not be part of our driver ranking system.

    Author: MikeVa
Subject: Rfactor rankings
Posted: 30 Mar 2012 at 10:50am

I should have known it was just a matter of time before I found issues. We are going to have to re-write, or add some functions into the ranking system. I ran some dirt league races through the other night, and as you can see, there are numerous drivers with only 3 races that are already at 2 skill levels, and way above others with 9 races. What I found was these drivers were awarded 280 points for a 7th place finish..didn't even look to see how many the winner was awared. Trying to get more answers on this...but under these conditions, there's no way we can have a fair ranking system with such a wide spread of points. This is where we will have to do our own set of points. Other than that issue, the rest seems to be ok.
http://www.racetoday.com/driverall2.asp (the huge points per 7th place)

http://www.racetoday.com/gmitchell.asp (standared points from sce xml)

Huge difference..Had to put Mr Mitchell in the spotlight

    Author: MikeVa
Subject: Rfactor rankings
Posted: 21 Mar 2012 at 12:27am

The way the main page works..you need 200 points in order advance 1 skill level. Once you have reached another 200, then you gain another skill level. Once a skill level has been reached, your points are set back to zero, and you start trying to reach another 200 points. One thing we need to update..lets say after 5 races you have 190 points. The 6th race you earn 45 points. This will advance you to the next skill level because you went over 200 points, but the 35 points over 200 you loose them. Anything after the threshhold of 200 is thrown away for the race that put you over 200. What I hope to do, is have those remaining points be added into the reset of your next 200 points for the next skill level. So after that 6th race, you would move up a skill levael, and now have 35 points toward the next one...hope you can make sense of all that..lol

The sorting order is by skill level. then points, then races.

That's how Dennis kelly is on top of Jason Burrage. Both have a skill level=1...both have points =37...but Dennis has one more race than Jason..so he is at the top. I did it this way to award the driver that has shown up the most to race.

Hopefully soon will be able to get more info available..but my writng skills are very limited

All the server and backend stuff is done, we just now have to create the asp page to display all the information, so you have something to look at.
Any league will be able to have their drivers ranked. This is NOT just a stats program that shows how many races you run, top5's etc..but actually calculates point from each race, and then sorts the drivers by their ranking based on the points. The Leagues will not have to do anything as the results are imported automatically. As we get closer to finailizing the results display page, will let you know..and update this topic as we go along.
